The CUMMING LAB

OPTIMIZING BRAIN METABOLISM FOR SUCCESSFUL AGING
LEARN MORE

Welcome

Picture
The Cumming Laboratory, led by Professor Robert C. Cumming,  is located in the Department of Biology at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada.

We study the changes in brain metabolism and antioxidant defence that occur with age.  We are trying to understand how age-dependent alterations in metabolic and antioxidant enzyme activities contribute to neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease and Huntington’s disease. In addition, we are examining the effect of experimentally manipulated metabolism on stem cell differentiation and reprogramming of somatic cells to induced pluripotent stem cells.
